Atlanta and Spring Break

So the Atlanta trip was... stressful to say the least, from even the day I found out about it.  The timing probably was the worst, we departed on my moms bday and I was in a car on the way back for mine.  I also had a midterm the day after we returned, and a project for studio due. OH and not to mention the 9 hr drive there in a snowstorm!  For a good note, from all the firms we visited I would have to say Knoll was my fav... BUT spring break has been very relaxing and I am not looking forward for classes on Monday.  I went snowboarding and to the beach : ) and got to spend some time with the family, now I have to return to my homework which I have postponed all spring break, because I mean it is spring BREAK!

site + building design

For one week we were to generate 10 different schemes that addressed our site and building program; using concepts, diagrams, and sketches.  Each scheme included a site plan, building sketch, and 3d sketch model.  Below are the ones that spoke my ideas the best, and I will upload images of the models soon!

Thank you Jimmy for helping me fix my images : )  I will upload the rest of my work later today, after re-saving them at RGB (for anyone who is having the same problem)

on another note: after trying to upload all the work I have been doing, blogger is not cooperating! My images are coming in crazy colors and things are missing.... any suggestions from those who oh love so much to blog???

Precedent Analysis

These past few weeks I have been researching, modeling, and diagraming The Glasgow School of Art.  Precedents are an important part of any project.  However, I am excited for tomorrow because we will be done with this phase of the project, and moving along to hopefully something that interest and excites me for the semester

Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1897-1909

Building situated at the edge of a steeply sloping south facing hill - stretching one block - facing a major street to the north

Building is a long "E" shape with corridors along spine that link art studios along the street side and smaller rooms and offices on the back side - two story library on the west - entrance located off center

Influences from Scottish architecture and art noveau - volumetric masses of heavy masonry with floral and geometric motifs in the iron work, tiles, and details
